Trusted by teams that run on documents.
“We used to dig timesheets and invoices out of email threads every month. Now each subcontractor uploads to their own package and we approve the whole pack in one pass.”
“Our companies upload straight into their own client portal now. When a document is wrong we reject it with a comment instead of starting another WhatsApp thread.”
“Auto-Gen creates every company’s pack on the 1st, so no period gets missed. Nothing is ever overwritten — every version stays in the history.”
Document control questions, answered.
What is document control software?+
Document control software is a system for collecting, versioning, reviewing, and approving business documents so the version on record is always the current one. PaperTight applies this to the recurring paperwork you gather from subcontractors and vendors — timesheets, salary sheets, invoices, and statements of account — adding version control, an approval queue, and package readiness tracking on top of your existing Excel, Word, and PDF files.
What is the difference between document control and document management?+
Document management is mostly about storing and organising files. A document control system adds the workflow around them: who can submit a document, which version is current, whether it has been reviewed, and whether it is approved. PaperTight is built around that control layer — every document slot carries a status (missing, submitted, approved, or rejected), a full version history, and a review action, so nothing is lost or silently overwritten.
Why is document control important?+
Without document control, teams chase the latest timesheet or invoice across email and WhatsApp, and it is never clear which file is final. Document control gives every recurring document set one place to live, a single approval workflow, and a readiness bar that shows exactly what is still outstanding — so nothing slips and no billing period gets missed.
Do my subcontractors need paid accounts to upload documents?+
No. Your subcontractors and clients sign in through the client portal, where they see only their own company’s documents. Client-portal users are free and do not count toward your member limit, so you only pay for your internal team. See the pricing page for the member limits on each plan.
What file types does PaperTight support?+
PaperTight works with the files you already produce — Excel, Word, and PDF documents. Each document slot defines the allowed file types for that requirement, and your files stay the source of truth: PaperTight adds version history and approval on top rather than converting or replacing them.
Is PaperTight a construction document management tool?+
Not in the drawings-and-RFIs sense. PaperTight manages the recurring subcontractor paperwork that runs a project’s back office — timesheets, invoices, salary sheets, statements of account, and gate passes — rather than CAD drawings, submittals, or RFIs. If your challenge is collecting and approving monthly document packs from subcontractors and vendors, that is exactly what it is built for.
